(Spirit Lake)– The Lakes Area Decategorization/Empowerment Board has awarded 75-thousand dollars in grants to over 35 childcare/pre-school providers in Clay, Dickinson, Osceola and O’Brien counties. Awards varied from 750-dollars to 7,300-dollars.
Those awarded grants in Dickinson county include the Harris-Lake Park pre-school, Tracy’s Tree House Daycare, Luitjens Lullaby Land Childcare, Shakira Meyer, Bright Beginnings, Joyful Journeys Community Child Development Center, Spirit Lake Head Start, Home Daycare and Okoboji Head Start.
Funds will be used to support early childhood programs in the community, particularly for in-home and center childcare providers.
57 applications were received requesting more than 290-thousand dollars.
