(Spencer)– A brand new 54,500 square foot Hy-Vee store was unveiled Friday in downtown Spencer.
Hy-Vee Chairman of the Board and CEO Ric Jurgens says the 14.7 million dollar project furthers Hy-Vee’s commitment to the Spencer community. He thanked everyone who made the project possible.
The new store is bringing 100 new jobs with it and will feature a separate wine and spirits department, pharmacy with drive-up window, chinese express, one-hour photo lab and digital kiosk, a Hy-Vee Club room for classes and special events and a UPS/Western Union/postal drop-off.
The downtown location of the new store marks a big change, as the current store is located on the south end of town near so-called “big box stores” such as Menards. Jurgens says the downtown location should be more convenient for most people, as it will be closer to most neighborhoods.
Jurgens adds the design of the new store in Spencer is the first of its kind for Hy-Vee.
