(Spirit Lake)– Sunday’s winter storm dumped a little more than six inches of snow on the Iowa Great Lakes…6.3 inches to be exact.
While no major accidents were reported locally, seven people died in weather-related crashes statewide in Iowa, including a wreck in Sioux county Sunday that claimed two lives.
The Iowa State Patrol says Raymond Katka, Junior of Rock Rapids and a passenger, four-month-old Cody Holtrop of Sheldon, died in the crash on U-S Highway 75.
Cold arctic high pressure will be in control of our weather in the wake of the storm keeping us dry but very cold. A combination of clear skies, a fresh, deep snow cover, and light wind will allow overnight temperatures tonight (Mon.) to drop into the teens below zero. Highs the next couple of days will struggle to reach 5 to 10 above.
