Collision Near Lake Park Sends Three People To Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Lake Park)– A two-vehicle collision Monday on 140th Street about two miles east of Lake Park sent three people to the hospital.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 53-year-old Jerry Fleming of Spirit Lake, a rural letter carrier, was westbound on 140th Street and was approaching a crest in a hill when he met an eastbound vehicle driven by 16-year-old April Zinn of Lake Park. Authorities say both vehicles were travelling in the center of the road when Zinn swerved to the left to try to avoid a collision. Fleming then attempted to go to the right. The two collided in the westbound side of the road, with Zinn’s vehicle going into the north ditch flipping end-over-end, coming to rest on its wheels.

Fleming, Zinn and a passenger in her vehicle, 15-year-old Kyle Kruger of Lake Park, were all taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. The extent of their injuries wasn’t available.

Five thousand dollars in damage was estimated to both vehicles.

The mishap took place shortly after 2:00 p.m.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Lake Park Police Department, Lake Park Fire and Rescue and Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance.
