LRH New Year’s Baby To Receive Special Gift From State

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The first baby of 2007 to be born in Dickinson county is getting a gift from the state.

Megan Sullivan, daughter of Spring Sullivan and John Sullivan of Milford, was the first baby born in 2007 at Lakes Regional Healthcare. Megan came into the world at 1:12 p.m. New Years Day.

In honor of that, State Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald has awarded a five hundred dollar College Savings Iowa Account in her name.

The College Savings Iowa Baby New Year give-away awarded accounts to the first 40 babies born in Iowa in 2007, one winner per participating hospital.

74 hospitals, including Lakes Regional Healthcare, participated in this year’s program.

College Savings Iowa is a state-sponsored 529 plan designed to give families a tax-advantaged way to save money for college.
