(Spirit Lake)– Upper Des Moines Opportunity has started taking applications for the 2006-2007 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP.
Laurie Ruuf of the Spirit Lake UDMO office tells KUOO news they’re taking applications now through April 16th. Ruuf says you’ll need to have some documents with you, including three months of household income from the past 90 days or last year’s income tax form; a heat and light bill and phone bill.
Ruuf says the program is intended to offer a ONE time only payment to help defray your heating bill. She says those who have already applied and have been approved for this season cannot reapply.
Ruuf expects a high demand for the program again this season…especially among the elderly and those on fixed incomes.
For eligibility guidelines and to make an appointment, contact the Spirit Lake Upper Des Moines Opportunity office at 336-1112. The office is located on the southeast side of the Great Lakes Mall in Spirit Lake.
