Traffic Stop Results In Arrest Of Spencer Man On Warrants

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A traffic stop Sunday in Clay county landed a Spencer man in jail on various charges and warrants.

A Clay county deputy recognized 25-year-old Christopher Elliot Nelson of Spencer as the driver of a vehicle that was travelling southbound on Grand Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated during which Nelson is accused of providing a deputy false information about his identity. Upon learning Nelson’s true identity, the deputy discovered Nelson’s driver’s license had been suspended and that he was wanted on warrants out of Clay and Woodbury counties.

Nelson was charged with driving under suspension and interference with official acts…both simple misdemeanors. He was wanted in Woodbury county for reckless use of fire and contempt of court on an original charge of domestic assault. Nelson was booked into the Clay county jail on five thousand dollars bond.
