A long-term concern to boaters visiting the Iowa Great Lakes is to make sure your boat and trailer does are not transporting invasive water species. DNR Biologist Kim Bogenshutz tells KUOO News the threat of the harmful species are real with Zebra muscles recently found in Clear Lake. The DNR recommends power-washing your boat and allowing it to sit for five days before using it in a different lake.
