Walleye Weekend Registration Continues, With The Event Now Just ONE Week Away

April 24, 2026

(Arnolds Park)– Walleye Weekend is now just ONE week away…May 2nd and 3rd. Blain Andera of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce says there’s still time to get signed up…

“You can register online at okobojichamber.com, just click on the events tab and go down to Walleye Weekend. Pretty simple to do online. I would also encourage you to stop by the area bait shops, our partners, and register there if you prefer. You can pick up your bait, your tackle, everything like that, and those are Kabel’s Trading Post in Spirit Lake, Fisherman’s Factory Outlet in Spirit Lake, Stan’s Bait and Tackle in Milford and Oak Hill Outdoor in Milford.”

Andera says you’ll also want to get signed up for the Largest Walleye Contest, which is returning again this year…

“It’s an additional contest in addition to the regular Walleye Weekend contest. So if folks want to enter that it ‘s through an app called The Fish Donkey app and they register right on there, they pay online there and then when they catch that large walleye they take a picture of it, measure it, you know there’s some criteria, they have to do it properly, and then it gets released back into our lakes again. That was just a neat way for us to bring back the Largest Walleye Contest without harvesting those large walleyes out of our lakes.”

Andera adds there’s some big money on the line again this year for Walleye Weekend…

“You know last year a lady named Dawn from Albert Lea, Minnesota, won $43,000. I got to write that check out, it was pretty cool. Really hoping we get to write out a $44,000 check this year for the 44th annual, so.”

Walleye Weekend apparel is also available for purchase at several area bait shops as well as the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce in Arnolds Park.
