Volunteers Needed To Help Clean Up Kilen Woods

April 20, 2026

(Jackson, Mn.)– Federated Rural Electric has sponsored the GreenTouch spruce up day at Kilen Woods State park for the past 25 years. Federated REA Marketing and Communications Director Andrea Christoffer explains what will happen during clean up day…

“It’s always the first Saturday of May. So this year it is May 2nd. And what we’ll be doing is working from 9:00 am to noon. And we’ll be doing some tidying up, picking up branches, picking up litter, walking the trails to do that. And if you’re not able to do that much walking, you want something else, but still be outside. We often will do some raking in the amphitheater. Sometimes we’re painting the amphitheater seats or picnic tables. I know this year that if you’re good with a hammer. He’s talked about replacing some of the picnic table tops.”

Christoffer says you do not have to be a Federated REA member to volunteer…

“I get people from Windom that come. I get people from mostly Jackson County, but occasionally Martin County as well. They come with their families, they come with their grand kids. Just a great opportunity to be out and about. You know, people enjoy the trails there. There’s so much trees and you know, what kind of wildlife will you see? It’s fun that way too.”

Volunteers will enjoy a light lunch so Christoffer would like people to RSVP by noon on April 30th so they purchase enough food. You can call Federated at 507-847-3520 or email info@federatedrea.coop to sign up.
