Underage Beer Party Results In Six Arrests

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– An underage beer party in Spencer this past weekend has lead to the arrest of several people on multiple charges.

Friday night Spencer police were alerted to an underage beer party at 312 West Second Street, apartment two. They arrived to find several underage drinkers. A search led to the discovery of 40 grams of marijuana, which was packaged for resale.

A teen from Sheldon and a 20-year-old from Hartley were charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age. Both were cited and released pending a future court date.

23-year-old Brandon Harris of Sheldon was charged with possession of a controlled substance; 22-yea-old Curtis Tripp of Spencer was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia; and 17-year-old Matthew DeWall of Spencer was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver…a class “D” felony.

Tripp and Harris were booked into the Clay county jail. DeWall was turned over to the custody of a parent and referred to the juvenile court authority.

Officers credit a vigilant neighbor for the initial call about the party. The investigation is continuing and authorities say more arrests are possible.
