(Spirit Lake)– The heating season may finally be winding down, but that doesn’t mean those eligible to receive home heating assistance can’t still apply.
Laurie Ruuf of the Spirit Lake Upper Des Moines Opportunity office says they’ll continue taking applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance, or LIHEAP program, through April 14th.
Ruuf says you’ll need to bring some documentation with you when you sign up–including proof of the entire household’s income either for the last 90 days or your most recent income tax form; and a current bill from both your heating vendor and electric vendor.
Ruuf says contrary to what you may have heard, funding is still available through LIHEAP.
