(Washington, D.C.)– The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $76.2 million to improve transportation and related safety projects in a number of Iowa counties.

A little more than $7 million was awarded to nine counties in northern Iowa, including Kossuth and Palo Alto counties within our listening area. The funds will be used for projects such as widening curves and enhancements at intersections.

Palo Alto county was awarded an additional $415,711 to improve rural post-crash care after serious accidents. It includes additional equipment for ambulances along with prehospital blood administration capability.

The funding is made possible by the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
