Two Spencer Men Face Federal Meth Charges

(Sioux City)—Two Spencer men face federal drug charges.

27-year-old William Hill and 39-year-old Michael Witter have been charged with conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine and possess pseudoephedrine with intent to manufacture methamphetamine; and traveling in interstate commerce to purchase pseudoephedrine in a drug conspiracy.

The charges are contained in an indictment filed January 24th in U-S District Court in Sioux City.

The indictment alleges that between about January 2004 and February 27th, 2006, Hill and Witter conspired to manufacture and distribute meth and distribute and possess pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture meth. The two were also charged with interstate commerce between Iowa and South Dakota as part of a drug conspiracy.

If convicted, the two men face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years imprisonment and a possible maximum of life imprisonment along with a four million dollar fine.

Hill appeared January 28th in federal court in Sioux City and was released. He’s scheduled to go on trial April 7th.

A date for Witter’s initial appearance and arraignment hasn’t been set yet.
