(Spirit Lake)– If you left your vehicle parked on the street overnight recently, chances are you got a ticket for violating your city’s snow removal ordinance.
Spirit Lake police wrote more than 50 tickets Wednesday night and about 30 earlier in the week.
Spirit Lake Public Works Director Todd Dolphin says the city’s snow removal ordinance is triggered whenever a snow emergency is issued. Such a declaration is made whenever two inches or more of snow falls. The message is broadcast and motorists are advised to get their vehicles off the streets. Those who don’t are subject to a five-dollar ticket.
Dolphin says the best advice he has for anyone trying to avoid getting a ticket is to make sure your vehicle is off the street whenever it’s snowing or snow is in the forecast.
