(Des Moines)– The Iowa Supreme Court has suspended the law license of former Clay County Attorney Mike Zenor, saying his actions amounted to misconduct in office.
Zenor was accused of violating conflict of interest rules when he worked as a private lawyer for citizens charged with traffic violations. Zenor resigned in May, two days before a Supreme Court panel recommended a public reprimand.
In its ruling, the high court says that’s not enough and suspended his license for four months.
Clay County Attorney Mike Houchins says Zenor’s resignation was not related to the Supreme Court Commission’s findings. He says Zenor had anticipated leaving office before his current term expired at the end of 2006, to move to Dickinson county.
A phone call to Zenor’s home wasn’t immediately returned.
