Spencer Man Faces Possible Life Sentence On Meth Charges

(Sioux City)– It could be life in prison for a Spencer man after he pleaded guilty to meth charges in federal court in Sioux City.

34-year-old Danny Lee Belcher of Spencer was convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine after previously being convicted of a felony drug charge.

At the plea hearing, Belcher admitted that between May of 1997 and October, 2003, he and others were involved in a meth-dealing conspiracy in Clay county. In addition, Belcher was convicted of meth possession with intent to deliver in Clay county in May of 2001.

A sentencing date hasn’t been set yet.

Belcher faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a possible maximum sentence of life in prison.

Belcher remains in the custody of the U-S Marshal pending a sentencing date.
