Spencer Man Charged In Scharnberg Park Altercation

November 22, 2014

(Everly)– A fight at a Clay county park has resulted in charges against a Spencer man.

Clay County Conservation Officers say they were notified of a fight in progress on the beach at Scharnberg Park near Everly around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Upon investigating, officers determined an altercation took place between 26-year-old Corey David Ness of Spencer and Michael Markley. A news release doesn’t mention Markley’s age or hometown. Markley was taken by private vehicle to Spencer Hospital where he was treated for injuries suffered as a result of the incident.

Ness was charged with assault and public intoxication…both serious misdemeanors.

No information was available regarding the extent of Markley’s injuries.

Clay County Conservation Officers were assisted on the scene by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
