(Spencer)– Spencer Hospital is the recipient of a grant through the Iowa Office of Apprenticeship to support a Surgical Technologist.
Spencer Hospital was one of more than 70 program sponsors throughout Iowa to receive the funding that helps support programs in high-demand occupations and helps employers expand hands-on training opportunities.
The Iowa Office of Apprenticeship oversees and administers more than 900 apprentice programs serving more than 9,200 active apprentices statewide. Fiscal Year 2025 marked the first year for the program.
Chandra Doring, Director of Surgery at Spencer Hospital, says they’ve already seen some success as they were able to train a technician who later became a permanent member of their surgical team.
