The Special Olympics law enforcement torch passed through the Iowa Great Lakes area today. Hyattsville, Maryland police chief Doug Howland has been involved with the run for 20 years. He says offices from all 50 states are involved in the run which is geared at raising both funds and awareness of the special olympics program. The band of law officers running the torch through Arnolds Park today were joined by 3 athletes who will be competing in the national special olympics in Ames this weekend, and local olympians Elizabeth Loebach and Abby Wilson of Spirit Lake.
