(Des Moines)– Last week’s statewide hands-free blitz has lead to 551 citations and another 329 warnings.
The state law went into effect last summer, and the 170-dollar fine went into effect January 1st.
There’ve been more than 36-hundred citations and another 31-hundred warnings since the first of the year.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety says the new hands-free law is a key contributor to a historically low number of fatalities last year.
