SMU Adds WHO To Cable Line-up

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Spencer Municipal Utilities is adding a new t.v. station to their cable lineup at the end of this month.

The SMU Cable TV Programming Committee has voted to add WHO out of Des Moines to the lineup beginning next Tuesday.

WHO will replace WOI at channel 13 on the SMU system.

SMU Information Director Curtis Dean says WOI is one of a handful of on-air stations that are starting to charge cable systems for carrying their signal. Dean says they received an offer from WHO to carry that station for no charge. He says the move is designed to help keep rates down for subscribers.

Dean says the primary reason WOI was added several years ago was due to the fact they carry Iowa State athletic events. He says Cyclone fans can relax, as they’ll still be able to see their games through another source SMU subscribes to on channel three.
