(Spirit Lake)– Certified enrollment for the 2005-’06 school year in the Spirit Lake School District is down from last year. Superintendent Tim Grieves told the school board Monday evening that certified enrollment is down 36 students…compared to a year ago when it was UP by 42 students. Grieves says the biggest factor is that the district graduated 121 seniors and had only 92 students in this year’s Kindergarten class.
Grieves describes the enrollment trend as stable. He anticipates only a one percent growth in enrollment over the next five years. Grieves says that’s disappointing given all of the new housing that’s going up in Spirit Lake.
