(Spirit Lake)– It was a busy weekend for Spirit Lake firefighters, as they were called to three separate incidents since Friday evening.
The first Friday evening was a report of smoke in a house in the Loch Nolls area of East Lake Okoboji. A pan left on the stove was the cause. Firefighters ventilated the house. No damage and no injuries were reported.
The second call came shortly after 9:00 a.m. Sunday when Spirit Lake firefighters were summoned to a vehicle fire. Fire Chief David Kollasch says it stemmed from a problem with an electric seat. He says damage was limited to the seat itself.
The third call came around 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening when Spirit Lake firefighters were called to the Hilltop Care Center. Kollasch says a problem with a dryer resulted in some smoke getting into the building’s laundry area.
Kollasch says residents in that area of the building were moved to another location while firefighters ventilated that area.
No injuries were reported and there was no damage to the building.
Firefighters were on the scene about an hour-and-a-half last night. Kollasch says they wanted to make sure they knew exactly what the problem was before they left.
