November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A 25-year-old Spencer man was charged with failure to yield after a one-vehicle traffic accident near the cemetery in Spirit Lake Halloween afternoon.

Spirit Lake police say Jason Archer of Spencer lost control of a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer as he was travelling on a gravel road through the cemetery near Wal-Mart and was about to exit onto 15th Street. The vehicle travelled across the road, coming to rest in the north ditch of 15th Street. No injuries were reported to Archer. A passenger in the vehicle, Lindsay Briggs of Spirit Lake, sustained minor injuries when she struck her head on the windshield. She was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare.

Archer was charged with failure to yield.

Two thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle he was driving.

The crash took place around 3:30 p.m.
