(Undated)– U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley made a number of stops in the region last week, including one in Spirit Lake, as part of his annual tour of Iowa’s 99 counties. Grassley says he heard a lot from Iowans during the stops…
“E-15, the ethanol issue, a 5-year farm bill, the tariffs how input and the Iranian war, how input costs of farming have gone up because of the way, and then getting prescription drug prices down.”
He says progress is being made at least some of those issues…
“The House has passed a 5-year farm bill, should have been passed three years ago, and so that will help us get one through the Senate, and I think E-15 has passed the House. It’s a little more heavier lift in the United States Senate but I think we can get it passed. If we do, that will put about 14 billion dollars more into the pockets of corn farmers around the United States because it’s going to increase when you get E-15 nationwide year round. By law you get the retailers to invest in the pumps and get more ethanol running through our internal combustion engines.”
Grassley says getting a handle on prescription drug prices is proving to be very difficult.
