(Spencer)– Another area healthcare provider is emphasizing the important role it plays in the local economy.
A study by the Iowa Hospital Association shows that in 2025, Spencer Hospital provided more than $8.9 million in community benefits while serving nearly 34,000 patients. Spencer Hospital President and CEO Brenda Tiefenthaler says they’re extremely proud of those numbers…
“The community benefits we provide reflect our commitment to improving the health and the quality of life of our neighbors, while our investment in our employees, services and facilities, strengthens our local economy.”
The study also shows that in 2025, Spencer Hospital employed 1,025 people, paying out $90.3 million in salaries and wages and contributed to the local economy through investment in services, facilities, supplies and workforce development. Tiefenthaler says they were able to accomplish that even in light of the challenges that are facing the healthcare industry…

The study was compiled from hospital-submitted data to the American Hospital Association’s annual survey of hospitals.
