(Spirit Lake)– A semi-trailer loaded with hogs overturned Tuesday on the curves at the Iowa/Minnesota border on Highway 86.
The Iowa State Patrol says Dudley Knobloch of Steen, Minnesota lost control, causing the semi tractor/trailer to roll on it’s side. No injuries were reported to Knobloch, but 35 of the 170 hogs in the trailer were either killed or put down.
Knobloch was charged with failure to maintain control.
He was enroute to Storm Lake when the mishap occurred.
Damage to the semi was estimated at 4,500-dollars.
The State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
