(Jackson, Mn.)– An 80-year-old Lakefield, Minnesota woman who had been missing since Wednesday has been found alive and well in a swampy, wooded area south of Heron Lake, Minnesota.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says Myrna Hunt was found after her car was spotted from the air by John Nauerth of Lakefield, a local pilot, and Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Curtis Kazemba.
Search dogs from the Nobles and Rock County Sheriff’s Offices and the Fairmont Police Department searched the area, but with no success.
Personnel from the Okabena, Heron Lake, Lakefield, Jackson and Alpha Fire Departments, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Reserves and eight members of the Lakefield Saddle Club on horseback were also called to the scene and another search was conducted.
Hunt was located by searchers and a search dog from Nobles county in some tall cattails, about a half-mile from her vehicle.
Authorities say she was alive, alert, conscious and talking.
Hunt was transported by the Heron Lake ambulance to the Windom hospital.
Jackson County Sheriff Roger Hawkinson thanks all the agencies who participated in the search, as well as the many citizens who helped out and those who called in tips.
