Supplies for Kids is in its 3rd year at JCC Schools. Alyssa Anderson with Supplies for Kids explains the organization…
“Supplies for kids is a non-profit organization that raises money to purchase school supplies for JCC students. We got on right away, we’re tax exempt, and then we just like to raise money to purchase school supplies so all kids can get the same school supplies versus accepting donations of individual pencils, crayons, colored pencils, that kind of stuff.”
Anderson says they are happy to relieve some financial stress for the teachers and also parents of JCC students…
“I was very surprised how many students came to school, didn’t have all their school supplies, didn’t know, you know, what they all needed. And the teachers were having to take on that financial burden. So when we started doing this, um, we visit straight with the teachers. They tell us exactly what they want and then we purchase the supplies. So every student in that classroom has the same supplies. Um, there’s no question if they have enough supplies and each student is treated equally.”
Anderson talks about the Annual Mother/ Son night out…
“We will be hosting our third supplies for kids mother son night out. So we just encourage moms, aunts, friends to bring their son who is the ages between preschool and 8th grade, over to the Lakefield Middle School in Pleasantview. We will have inflatables, pizza, dodgeball, basketball, yard games, board games, kind of a Stem area. If your son enjoys doing more those events versus the obstacles, we have a little something for everybody.”
