(Arnolds Park)– Last year Bras for a Cause raised a little over $21,000 and Di Lorenzen, who has been involved with raising money for cancer research for many years, says they are adding something new to this year’s event…
“This isn’t just about, you know, raising awareness for breast cancer, but it’s all cancers. So we’re also going to be decorating some boxers and maybe we’ll have some, you know, fun guys that would model these boxers for us as well. So what you do is, you know, anybody can get involved by just buying a bra, you know, buy a cheap bra or get a used bra, whatever, and decorate it or boxers and decorate them. There’s a lot of fun, really interesting things that you can find on Pinterest or, or come to the peacock and we’ll help you with an idea of something that you want to do.”
Lorenzen talks about another change for this year’s event…
“All the proceeds go to AB and Cancer Center when we’re affected with cancer, if you’re doing radiation or if you’re doing chemotherapy, we have been down at the cancer center. Can’t tell you how impressed I am with their facilities down there. I went through radiation down there. My partner Tom, when he was going through his treatment, we did chemotherapy down there and it is just a beautiful facility and the care that they give you. So this year our proceeds are going to go to the cancer center.”
Lorenzen talks about ways you can donate…
“What a great event it’s going to be to help us raise money. But we do need help from the community to get involved by creating a bra with your team or contact us and we can get an item that you can give us a gift card or an item from your for your store, or if there’s just somebody out there that wants to donate money, stop by the Peacock and you can also just donate if you like, if you can’t make it to the event.”
The event will include a Survivor Dinner and presentation from 5 to 7, a live and silent auction from 7:00 to 10:00 and also Dueling Pianos. The event will be held at the Peacock Lounge and Grill in Arnold’s Park.
