POET Plants Recognized For Safety

November 22, 2014

(Sioux Falls, S.D.)– An ethanol producer that owns and operates several ethanol plants in our area is being recognized by a couple of railroads for safety.

Norfolk Southern Railway and the Canandian National Railroad is recognizing 19 POET ethanol plants, including ones locally in Ashton, Emmetsburg and Bingham Lake, Minnesota for having no non-accident releases during the year and for having successful prevention plans in place.

POET CEO Jeff Broin says the company prides itself on taking safety very seriously.

The company recently started up a pilot-scale cellulosic ethanol plant that uses corn cobs as feedstock at its Emmetsburg plant.
