(Arnolds Park)– The University of Okoboji Corvette Club was organized back in 1990 for Corvette enthusiasts around the Iowa Great Lakes Area. The club started out with 10 members and has grown to just over 100 members. You can view these wonderful automobiles at Vettes in the Park on July 25th from 8:00 am to 2:00 at Arnold’s Park. Larry Dixon, President of the club, says more information can be found on their website…
“People can go to our website, which is the University of Okoboji Corvette Club, and they can read and learn about the event and what’s coming for some special cars that’s going to be showcased. This would be our 35th year of doing this. And in the more recent years, it’s been the largest attendance outside event on Saturday of anything that happens at Marlins Park. And then in addition to that day is the classic antique wooden boat show. And then also the farmers market, which is every Saturday as well.”
There will be three super-cars featured at Vettes in the Park this year and Dixon talks about them…
“We’re going to step out of the box and have cars that are other than corvettes in the cul de sac in front of Maxwell’s. There will be three special cars, and what makes them special is that all three are North American built cars that in different years have gone to the Nurburgring racetrack in Germany, which all the automakers send their cars to see who can get the fastest lap time. It’s like twelve point eight miles, one hundred and fifty corners. There’ll be examples of those cars at the show, and so it’ll bring a lot of outside interest into the area.”
The 3 super cars that will be on display are the 2017 Dodge Viper ACR, the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD and the 25 Chevy Corvette ZR1. You can also enjoy the 44th Annual Jerry Dyhrkopp Antique & Classic Boat Show from 8 to 2:30. These events are free and open to the public.
