November 23, 2014

The Okoboji Pioneers boys basketball team finished off a second-consecutive winless season in the Siouxland Conference Friday night with a 64-23 setback to Sibley-Ocheyedan. It also marks the second loss in five days to the Generals. Sophomore Dalton Syverson finished with eight points. The Pioneers end the year 1-21 overall and will open the Class 2A boys basketball district tournament on Monday at South O’Brien. That game can be heard live on Q102. Sibley-Ocheyedan enters the postseason with a 12-9 mark and will host Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Monday night. We’ll have that game on KUOO Campus Radio and online at Network1Sports.com. The winners will square off in the second round.

In the Cornbelt Conference, Graettinger-Terril took down West Bend-Mallard 51-43 to put the finishing touches on the regular season. Beau Craig paced the Knights with 16 points. G-T finishes 8-11 on the season and will be at Armstrong-Ringsted on February 21 to open the Class 1A District tourney.
