Omaha Man Charged In Vehicle Theft

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– An Omaha man has been charged for allegedly stealing a pickup from a Spencer convenience store Friday.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it was advised shortly after 11:00 a.m. that Spencer police had taken a report of a stolen Ford F150 pickup from the Holiday Convenience store in south Spencer.

Deputies received a citizen’s tip that led them to an area about two miles west of Rossie on County Road B-53. A deputy found a blue pickup at that location matching the description of the one reported stolen. The pickup was in the south ditch, facing east, with a male subject nearby…matching the description witnesses provided to police as to who stole the pickup.

The deputy made contact with the subject and took him into custody. He’s identified as 19-year-old Jermaine Miller of Omaha. Upon making the arrest, the deputy found the ignition key to the stolen pickup in Miller’s pocket.

Miller, who had been released from the Clay county jail prior to the pickup being stolen, was taken to the Clay county jail, processed and charged with theft in the second degree and no driver’s license. He was held pending a court appearance or the posting of a 10-thousand dollar bond.

Spencer police assisted deputies at the scene.
