(Spirit Lake)– No new trial date has been set yet for a man charged in a deadly boating accident last summer on West Lake Okoboji.
As KUOO news reported earlier this month, a pre-trial hearing for Justin Nearman of Sioux Falls was continued. Nearman was originally scheduled to go on trial next month, but that has also been continued…with no new date set.
Nearman is accused of driving a boat that collided with the rear of another boat, killing Doctor Michael Brosnahan of Perry and seriously injuring his wife.
Nearman is charged with operating a boat while intoxicated, resulting in the death of another person; operating a boat while intoxicated resulting in serious injury to another person and failing to offcer assistance and aid.
He could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted.
