(Spencer)– An Archer man has been charged with attempted murder in an incident in February of this year in which a Molotov Cocktail was thrown into an apartment in Spencer. 26-year-old Walker Hollenbeck is charged in a criminal complaint.
In the document, Spencer police say they were called February 11th to the 700 block of 8th Avenue West after getting a report of some bottles that had been thrown through an apartment window. Officers found broken glass and two bottles, one broken and another that wasn’t. Officers were shown a burnt spot on the floor where a bottle landed. Authorities say an investigation revealed Hollenbeck had motives toward the reporting party.
Court documents go on to state that Hollenbeck told investigators about another incident in which he entered the caller’s vehicle in a parking lot and physically assaulted him.
Hollenbeck also reportedly told investigators he and two others made the Molotov Cocktails and that he and another person scoped out the residence. Hollenbeck was charged with four counts of attempted murder and one count of 1st degree arson. Arraignment is set for July 6th in Clay County District Court.
43-year-old Lonn Whitford, Jr. and 29-year-old Diamond James were charged with aiding and abetting 1st degree arson, and have pleaded not guilty. A pretrial conference for Whitford is set for July 14th in Clay County District Court; James is due back in court August 11th.
