Motorcycle Vs Semi Collision At North Y In Spencer Sends One Person To The Hospital With Serious Injuries

April 17, 2026

(Spencer)– A collision Thursday involving a semi and a motorcycle at the North Y in Spencer sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol says 52-year-old Kenneth Goerg of Cedar Rapids was driving the semi and had stopped at a stop sign in the median before pulling out to turn onto the east beltway. Troopers say 65-year-old Gerald Faulkner of Spencer was driving a 1956 Harley Davidson northbound on Highway 71 when the motorcycle collided with the semi trailer, dragging Faulkner beneath it before it came to a stop.

Faulkner was taken to Spencer Hospital and was transferred by air to a Sioux Falls hospital with serious injuries.

The collision took place a little after 12 noon and remains under investigation.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Spencer Police Department assisted on the scene.
