Montana Snowmobile Accident Claims NW Iowa Man

November 22, 2014

(Cooke City, Mont.)– A northwest Iowa man has died in a snowmobiling accident in Montana.

44-year-old Keith Dykstra of Sheldon was riding last Friday with his 19-year-old son north of Cooke City. They separated for a few minutes, and the son looked back to find Dykstra’s sled idling without a rider.

Park County Coroner Al Jenkins says the son rode to the scene and found Dystra on the ground.

Jenkins says the wreck took place near a stream bed, which Dykstra apparently hit while traveling downhill. The coroner says the light was flat, and it was hard to see that morning.

He says Dykstra suffered head injuries and died at the scene.
