Milford Man Escapes Injury In Truck vs. Train Collision

November 22, 2014

(Rodman)– A Milford man escaped injury earlier this week when a truck he was driving collided with a train in Palo Alto county.

The Sheriff’s Office says Steven Slattery of Milford was eastbound on a county road east of Rodman when he collided with a Union Pacific train operated by Richard Bax of Eagle Grove. The train sustained an estimated 100-dollars in damage to the first and second locomotives. The Fed Ex truck Slattery was driving sustained an estimated five thousand dollars in damage.

Slattery was cited for failure to slow down and check at a railroad crossing.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
