Meth Lab Uncovered In Clay County

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Clay county authorities have uncovered the remnants of a methamphetamine lab.

Around 3:30 p.m. Monday a citizen reported the discovery of suspicious items in a ditch in the 3300 block of 260th Avenue just east of Spencer.

Upon arriving deputies discovered an LP tank, coffee filters, fittings, glassware and drug paraphernalia. They soon determined the items were used to make meth.

The area was secured and a certified lab technician from the Spencer Police Department was called to assist. The items were neutralized, deemed safe and destroyed.

Anyone with information should contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 262-3221.

Deputies remind the public, especially those in rural areas, to be aware that meth-related garbage is extremely dangerous and should not be touched.
