(Arnolds Park)– The Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum has landed a 225-thousand dollar matching grant through Vision Iowa’s Community Attraction and Tourism, or CAT program.
General Manager Scott Pyle says the grant will allow them to incorporate environmentally components in the recently paved parking lot at the Arnolds Park Amusement Park. The project will include bioretention cells, water quality monitoring equipment, pourous concrete, eco pavers and native prairie grasses. A demonstration area will be included highlighting methods of controlling runoff, along with interpretive signs explaining the various features and how they work.
Most of the work is expected to get underway next spring.
