(Arnolds Park)– The Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum board of directors Wednesday adopted a new name and mission and vision statements for the organization.
Effective immediately, the new name for the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum corporation is “Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated”…or HAPI.
The new mission statement reads “Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated provides and preserves family fun”.
The board also adopted some specific historic timeframes for which the park will now be themed. It will be based on the time frames from the late 1800’s; the late 1920’s to the 1930’s; and a period in the 1960’s.
The changes are based on recommendations from Julie Reilly, Associate Director and Chief Conservator of the Gerald R. Ford Conservation Center. Reilly has been assisting the Maritime Museum board in a conservation assessment report that will be used as a grant writing tool.
Reilly says the elements will lead up to the development of a strategic plan for the park over the next several months.
