(Sioux City)– A man who illegally reentered the U.S. from Mexico after having been convicted of an aggravated felony and twice convicted of illegal reentry as an aggravated felon has pled guilty in U.S. District Court in Sioux City.
During a plea hearing, 51-year-old Jesus Gamboa-Brambila admitted to illegally reentering the U.S. after having been previously removed on August 4th, 2018 and after having been convicted in 1991 for shooting at a living quarters in California. Gamboa-Brambila had been federally convicted in the Northern District of Iowa in 2004 and 2014 of illegal reentry as an aggravated felon. He was found in O’Brien county on March 21st of this year where he was arrested for domestic abuse assault…first offense, and criminal mischief. While Gamboa-Brambila was in custody, ICE officials confirmed his identity and that he was a citizen of Mexico and had been previously deported from the U.S. four times.
Gamboa-Brambila remains in the custody of federal authorities pending sentencing.
