Man Loses Control On Icy Road, Strikes Sign

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A Webb man suffered minor injuries when he lost control of his vehicle late Monday on Grand Avenue in Spencer and struck a sign.

Jack Sylvester of Webb was southbound on Grand Avenue around 8:40 p.m. when his vehicle started skidding on the snow-covered road. Authorities say he crossed over the northbound lanes, went over a snow bank and struck the large sign at Cargo Express head-on.

Sylvester suffered minor cuts to his face but refused medical treatment.

The 1998 Dodge he was driving sustained an estimated five thousand dollars in damage; damage to the sign was estimated at about four thousand dollars.

No charges were filed due to the weather conditions at the time of the mishap.
