(Milford)– Multiple charges have been filed against a Milford man who led police on a foot chase during an incident in that city Saturday evening.
A criminal complaint filed by the Milford Police Department charges 28-year-old Edgar Lara with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana…1st offense; no valid driver’s license; open container; speeding and interference with official acts.
In the complaint, the officer states he pulled over a vehicle for speeding in the area of 13th Street and S Avenue, as it was pulling into a parking stall at an apartment complex. Upon questioning, Lara allegedly admitted to the officer he is an illegal alien from Honduras. The officer then reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle. The complaint alleges that Lara took off on foot a short time after getting out of the vehicle, and ran through several yards. The officer deployed his taser and Lara was taken into custody.
The document states that police allegedly found about a half dozen open containers of beer along with a THC vape and some drug paraphernalia during a probable cause search.
Lara is being held in the Dickinson County Jail on the charges and is being detained for Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) officials.
