Local Unemployment Remains Unchanged From February To March

November 22, 2014

(Undated)– Local unemployment rates during March either remained steady or decreased slightly. That’s according to information released Thursday by Iowa Workforce Development.

Agency Director Richard Running says that trend also held true statewide, with Iowa’s jobless rate remaining unchanged at 5.1 percent in March. Running says it’s the third month in a row the state’s jobless rate has been at that level. It compares with 4.7 percent one year ago.

Locally, Clay, Emmet, O’Brien and Osceola counties all saw their jobless rates hold steady from February to March. Clay and O’Brien counties both had jobless rates at 5.7 percent; Osceola county was at 5.9 percent; and Emmet was at 6.1 percent. Dickinson saw its jobless rate drop slightly…going from 6.2 percent in February to six percent in March; and Palo Alto county went from 5.3 percent in February to 5.1 percent in March.
