(Spirit Lake)– A non-profit organization that also operates a recently opened thrift store in Spirit Lake is hosting a special event later this week for area kids. Diane Esch says the event, which is free for kids, will take place this Thursday…
“And we are doing lunch for kids from 10:30 to 11:30 at McDonalds. They’ll get a burger, some chips, a drink, and we’ve got games and prizes.”
She says they have similar events planned on a weekly basis through the summer.
The non-profit group’s thrift store, Treasures To Blessings, is located in the former Golden Buys location in Spirit Lake. Esch says their main purpose is to help those in need…
“We do all the way from fundraisers for those in need to lunch throughout the parks and just trying to bring the community together. We’ll have lots of activities this summer for kids and families in general. The community feedback is amazing. We have had outpours all the way from Sanborn to actually even into Minnesota. It’s not just the thrift store. We have a Race for Nova coming up and we have tons of people already entering in that race. Donations coming in from all over for the thrift store, and we do have lots of needs coming in as well.”
The Treasures to Blessings Store employs clients of Hope Haven. It’s been open since June 6th.
