Lakes Area History Video Draws Rave Reviews

November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– Those responsible for putting together a video chronicling the history of the Iowa Great Lakes say they’ve been getting nothing but raving reviews on their final product.

The video, titled “The Iowa Great Lakes Remembers: A Look at the Past, A Dream for the Future” has been presented to the public several times now, including a showing Sunday at the Lauridson Performing Arts Theatre at the Lakes Art Center in Okoboji. It drew another large crowd.

The approximately hour and-a-half long video features interviews with residents who’s families were pioneers in the Iowa Great Lakes and those who played a vital role in the area’s history.

The final public showing is set for Friday, August 4th at 7:00 p.m. at the Lakes Art Center.

Pre-orders for DVD and VHS copes of the video are now being taken for 20-dollars per copy. More information can be obtained by contacting the Spirit Lake Public Library.

“The Iowa Great Lakes Remembers: A Look at the Past, A Dream for the Future” was made possible by the Friends of the Spirit Lake Public Library and a grant from Humanities Iowa.
