(Lake Park)– The Lake Park City Council Monday evening awarded a bid for the first phase of improvements at Silver Lake Park to Diamond Concrete of Spirit Lake. Mayor Matt Carstensen says the bid came in well under the engineer’s estimate of nearly $2 million. He says most of the first phase will primarily consist of infrastructure improvements…
“The first phase will consist of a 10 foot wide trail from the bottom of main street to the city park itself, accommodating the same width of the bike trail. We have determined that’s where we want our trail head to be in Lake Park is down at the city park, and so there will be a new bridge constructed to accommodate that also to cross the river. Secondly, improvements to the roadway itself, additional parking, and upgrades to the tennis court area itself with new volleyball area being upgraded and also a bag toss area that will installed. There will be a trail in the perimeter of the park; that will probably be about three quarters completed by this fall. And then lastly, that part of the project will include a new shower house and restroom.”
Carstensen says that facility will be constructed on the south side of the park to accommodate the campground and trail head. Construction is scheduled to start no later than this coming June 15th.
